Different Types of Wallpaper

If you are planning to use wallpaper when redecorating your home, then you need to know the different types of wallpaper available. There are three types of wallpaper: vinyl-coated paper wallpaper, vinyl-coated fabric wallpaper and solid vinyl wallpaper. You need to research what the differences are so that you can choose the right wallpaper for your needs.
Which room requires the wallpaper?
The area where you are wallpapering is the most important deciding factor. If you are wallpapering your bathroom, then you need wallpaper that can handle humidity. For your kitchen, you need wallpaper that can handle humidity and cleans easily. The wallpaper in your kitchen is subjected to grease on a regular basis. For these situations, you have three choices of wallpaper: vinyl coated paper, fabric-backed vinyl paper and paper-backed vinyl. All of these can handle repeated moisture and scrubbing. Some vinyl wallpapers are treated with a liquid vinyl, while others use a solid film of vinyl. Wallpaper using a solid film of vinyl lasts longer and can handle repeated cleanings.
What about the rest of the house?
Fabric-coated wallpaper is fabric treated with a liquid vinyl. This type of wallpaper is perfect for dining rooms or bedrooms. It is used anywhere moisture and humidity are not an issue. Frequent cleaning or scrubbing is not recommended for this type of wallpaper.
Wallpaper is an easy and low-cost solution to cover up existing walls in the home. Rather than repaint an old surface, use wallpaper to add color and pattern to the room.
